I envisioned myself walking up behind Brett sitting at the computer in his home office a few days before and noticing an add on the sidebar of a news page he was reading. I said something like, "35 roses! Who needs 35 roses! That just seems so frivolous and like such a waste of money!" I didn't really take too much notice at the time, but realized now that he didn't really respond.
You can imagine the happy tears that burned in my eyes and the pit that formed in my stomach as I finished opening my delivered box to reveal 3 dozen red roses in a vase with a heartfelt Valentine message (that he had ordered more than three weeks before).
I learned something about myself yesterday that he already knew -- receiving flowers makes me feel really loved and pampered!! I had no idea! I always forced him to be too frugal and buy me pants or something instead. To think that he loves me enough and thinks me important enough to "waste" that much cash to express it. I'm so grateful for my Valentine. . . and happy to report that he is very forgiving. I won't be pulling apart these flowers for a game of "he loves me; he loves me not." It is pretty obvious that he loves me.
